Games News: The Trailer Edition

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Preview Trailer

If you’re a StarCraft II fan, you know that the game is being released not in one whole pack, but in a base game and two expansion packs that will finally make a whole game. The first of these expansion packs got its first official launch trailer this week. The footage is absolutely incredible looking, and according to Blizzard is actual in-game cinematic cut scenes, which is really impressive. There is no set release date  but based on hints from Blizzard themselves, it is likely to drop in April 2012.

War of The Worlds XBLA Launch Trailer

Narrated by none other than Sir Patrick Stewart, this side-scrolling platformer XBLA game is loosely based on the H. G. Wells novel of the same name. Developed by Other Ocean in conjunction with Paramount Pictures, this little arcade title has already impressed game critics and has been called a “contender for arcade game of the year.” You’ll be side-scrolling your way through London, outsmarting the aliens and defeating several other mean characters along the way including drones and giant spiders. The game is released tomorrow on XBLA and will set you back 800MSP.

This 3DS shooter brings you down to microscopic levels. Yes, you’ve to fight your way through levels defeating the deadly Nanostray virus and stopping it from contaminating civilization. You’ve got an arsenal of cool weapons including Powerful Beams that lock onto enemies for instant impact, Energetic Bombs that explode upon impact and launch devastating projectiles and Spins which rotate around enemies in energy-draining orbs. The game is releasing in the US on November 22, with a EU release to follow.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Launch Trailer

I can’t decide if I’m looking forward to this or not. The gameplay looks incredible (as usual) and is absolutely stunning, but I’m just wondering if the series is a little old hat at this stage? I mean, there’s the die-hard fans of course that will defend it to the bitter end, but I’m not one of them and I’m wondering if any of you are in the same boat as me? Anyways, the game is released November 8 on 360, Playstation 3, PC and Wii with a separate edition slated for the 3DS at a later date.

Inversion 3 Gs of Battle Trailer

This is something I’m REALLY looking forward to. You get to shoot your way through destructible environments and manipulate gravity for crying out loud. You take on the role of Davis Russel after the city is invaded by an unknown enemy. Your daughter is missing and you and your partner Leo Delgado have to save the world and your offspring. Developed by Sabre Interactive (Timeshift, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary), it is slated for release on 360, Playstation 3 and PC on February 10.
