Our Flo has never been afraid of a stomping tune. New single Shake it Out is possibly above and beyond anything we’ve heard thus far. A massive, uplifting ballad with a chorus only Flo could bring. As good as What the Water Gave Me is, this made me above and beyond excited about what’s to come with the new album Ceremonials.
Epic (and other similar adjectives) doesn’t go far enough to describe how big this track really is. You can hear how strained the recording is just trying to contain Flo’s considerable voice as well as the crashing drums. She’s writing bigger and better and the production values are beyond that of her previous outing Lungs.
If this keeps up, there’ll be no one citing “difficult second album”.
