Setlist: March 2011

Just a bunch of songs that make up my ultimate setlist for March 2011. Simple!

The Guilty Folk ft EleventFour – Afternoon Delight

We’ve got a soft spot for funny, quirky songs. So, this collaboration from 2 of our favourite acts is the perfect addition to the setlist as well as kicking us off with some lolz.

Spark – Crave

One of the most exciting acts from last year follows-up her hits Revolving and Shut out the Moon with this track. Crave is one of those tracks that’s instantly recognisable and instantly singable. And with some fantastic remixes floating about out there, it’s hard not to be moved to boogie on down.

Acoustra – Techno Trad

Innovative and modern, Acoustra have taken old traditions of Irish music and kicked it kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Ciarán Smyth – Million Soldiers

Pop Culture Monster’s favourite album from last month was Like A Machine. This is the first track on the EP and what a cracker of a tune.

Oh Land – Sun of a Gun

This woman is starting to gain some popularity around the world, especially in N America and Canada. Hailing from Denmark, she’s Scandinavia’s latest and best electro-pop export.

LectroLips – What We Came For

Underrated is one word to describe LectroLips. Another would be stellar. Have a listen to the rest of their offerings (which are all free!)

Clare Maguire – The Last Dance (Chase Status Remix)

Birmingham’s biggest voice releases her *first* single. Well, if you’ve paid attention up until now, you’ll know that’s not true, but we’ll go with it anyway. One of the best remixes out there!

James Vincent McMorrow – If I Had A Boat

Another great Irish export from last year, JVMM’s If I Had a Boat is one of those beautifully crafted tracks that will echo through your life for years to come.

Nicole Atkins – Vultures

We just reviewed her album, and this is the title track and first single.

Florence and the Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up) The Lionheart Mix

She’s been quiet as of late, so here comes one of Pop Culture Monster’s favourite remixes from last couple of years. It’s getting heavy rotation recently. Again.

Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers (Dave Sitek Remix)

There’s nothing better than some Scandinavian alt-pop, and who better to have there than Lykke Li? That’s right, nobody.
