Lykke Li debuts her new video for the track Sadness is a Blessing, directed by Tarik Saleh and starring Lykke herself with the wonderful Stellan Skarsgård. I’m not quite sure what to think of the video itself as it’s a little bit strange. But then again, most of what she does is. But the song is yet another beautiful releasetrack from her formidable release Wounded Rhymes. It’s one of her most accessible tracks to date, with simple instrumentation resulting in melodious and understated tune with a very radio friendly sound.

Mob Fandango release their debut EP Dig this Sunday in Dublin’s Sugar Club with support Creamy Goodness and Choice Cuts’ DJ Scope spinning funk and hip-hop grooves on the decks. Mob Fandango are known for their brilliant live shows (we’ve seen them a few times!). Their funk/soul sound is unlike anything you’ll hear around the Dublin music scene today, which lead them to headline last year’s Dublin City Soul Festival. Tickets to the launch are €5 and you can buy them at the door. It’s well worth a trip for some feel good funky tunes!

The Castlepalooza music and arts festival is happening on July 28, 29 and 30 in Charleville Castle, Tullamore. The fantastic music line-up includes Adebisi Shank, Codes, Jape, Go Panda Go, Kid Karate, The Riptide Movement and We Are Losers to name but a few. It promises to be the best value festival in Ireland and with a line-up like that it’s not to be missed. Tickets can be bought here.

And finally, punk icon Poly Styrene sadly lost her battle to cancer on Monday. The X-Ray Spex frontwoman will be missed by anyone who has a little bit of punk in their heart.
