New Music 11-17/10/10

As always, Pop Culture Monster gives you his thoughts on some of this week’s new releases.

Talay Riley – Humanoid

A really nice synthy, electro, dancey debut number from the up-and-comer. With this impressive start, Pop Culture Monster hopes he can continue to get better and not fall to the pits of crappy electro-dance-pop that somebody has recently (I’m lookin’ at you Kelis. Tut tut. You used to be cool, man.) Back to business, this song may not be paving ways in music (who is really? Lady Gaga, I suppose. But we hear she’s a robot) but it definitely had the Monster tapping a paw and shakin’ it on down. And will do when next he hears it. Which is right now, because it’s on repeat. Follow suit!

Pixie Lott – Broken Arrow

Poxy Lott more like. This song is in true Poxy form. Poxy lyrics. Poxy video. Poxy, poxy, poxy. She’s also trying to be Adele in the song, which is just a dreary Kate Nash, which is just a €2 shop Lily Allen. So, all in all, this is a really crap song. And worst of all, we trusted her ability to write a catchy pop song. Now, that’s all out the window. Thanks, Poxy. You let yourself down, you let the team down, you let Pop Culture Monster down. You’re such a downer now. Anyone for some Prozac?

Honourable Mentions:

Marina and the Diamonds – Shampain

Although the record company are kinda milking the album, we still love our Marina. And the video is pretty amazing.
