Free Portal 2 DLC

Yes, the wait is finally over for Portal 2 fans as starting tomorrow we get some long-awaited DLC. The good people at VALVe have been hard at work getting this pack, entitled Peer Review, together. It had some minor set-backs: it was supposed to have a summer release and then pushed back to mid-September only for that date to swing by with no add-on. But now the rollout has an official date of 4th October for 360, PS3 and Steam. That means that depending on where you live, you may get it tomorrow or you may have to wait a little longer. But it’s coming!

We were happy enough to wait because this DLC pack wasn’t ready to go when the retail version was and is absolutely no-strings-attached free, so it’s not a straight-up unjustifiable cash-cow for the developers.  (We don’t like this on-going trend with developers and publishers… you can read about it here.) The DLC has content for both the solo and co-op campaigns. The co-op story for Atlas and P-body is continued “as you puzzle your way through a mysterious new co-op test track and once again match wits with GLaDOS.” The rest of the content includes Challenge Mode for single player and co-op as well as additional leaderboards to compare your scores with the community.

If that’s not enough, VALVe also released the third installment for their Portal 2 soundtracks. All of which can be downloaded for free here. That’s 64 tracks for the price of none.

And sure, while we’re at it, have a look at this fanmade video for Want You Gone. It’s 40 kinds of awesome.
